IMDB Breakdown

Well crap...thank goodness that is over. I started off enjoying the old school feel to the movie...black and white...the costumes...cigarettes being smoked by everyone indoors....but that affection slowly died out about half way through the movie. A story about a guy who falls in love with his girlfriend's sister. And the sister is O.K. with it? Hmmmm....and the whole Hollywood thing was very over the top. Some scenes were crazy overdramatic and it caused me to wonder if maybe all the films around this time were that way?

Time will tell. This is #1 of 82 Best Pictures.

Academy Awards Best Picture Quest

I have decided that I am going to watch all the movies that have been awarded "Best Picture" from the Academy. I have updated my queue on netflix and have all the movies ready. I get one disc at a time and the majority of the movies are on DVD only.

My wife and I are going to watch one of these a week.

And I will update this after each one that we watch with my thoughts.

At first glance of the list I am worried at the amount of musicals that are on the list. However, my wife will probably be more excited to watch the list with me b.c of it.

Spent this past weekend registering for the baby shower! It is VERY cool. The more we look around and check out what we want, the more real it gets!

BOM Reading

For the 2 1/2 people that look at this blog after they are only so bored at work, facebook and life in general, I thank you.

I wanted to give a quick update on the reading.

Had about 6 hours of total driving this past weekend so I popped on the BOM audio as we drove. Got to Mosiah 28, so almost to Alma.

I was able to find a way to download the audio straight from the lds.org website onto my phone. I am officially obsessed with the Motorola Droid. I then was able to unzip the .zip file onto the music portion of the phone and listen to the audio straight from my cell! Pretty awesome.

I also have downloaded Scriptures from the android market (similar to the iphone app) that has a whole mess load of stuff in it for the Mormon that just can't get enough church on Sundays. Like meetings, 3 hours, callings and family doesn't force feed you enough you can carry it everywhere you go!!!!

So for those of you, it's sweet. I can hit the scroll button on the reading of the BOM and listen to the audio at the same time. For those late night reads.

I will prob get motivated and make a whole post just for the ode to Droid.

Reading

Hand is completely out of the cast. Finally. I have rehabbed it back to good enough health that I can write about a page into my journal and have it be throbbing in agonizing pain ... so that is good. But I was asked today about how my reading was going and I realized that I have been SLACKING big time. I am in Mosiah Chapter 5. I read about a chapter tonight (so from chapter 4 -5). So that is where I am at now.

I do fear however with the end of the semester coming upon me and having so many BIG papers to write that my reading is going to go to the dogs for about the next 45 days or so. With the amount of reading and writing that I am going to be doing and the work with the new Charter School that I am getting involved in I am going to have just about no time to do anything.

Awesome.

But for now I shall read. And report to the metropolis of followers that this blog has, which is zero.

I doubt anyone will notice.
